website - creation process

Because of the fact that we have  used wix.com  last year in order to create our AS Magazine Task, we became familiar with it and decided to also use it for the creation of the website.

Moreover,we also enjoy working on this particular website creator as it is flexible, user friendly, allows the insertion of different social media links and files and also since it does not have a rigid template, we could  easily follow our own ideas and transform it into a minimal style website.

Firstly, we decided to  pick  a template from the already available ones and we then started to edit it according to the style and image of the artist.

After that, we moved on to editing the categories of the template, creating different pages rather than anchors, this being  based solely on our personal preferences. The pages included : Home, About, Music,OnTour, Contact. We choose these following the model of the artist website.

The next step was that we started personalising each page and deleted the Merch and Gallery one, which were in built but did not appear on the artist's official  page. As KUNGS  is a young, emerging DJ, he does not appear massively on social media as other DJs such as Khalid or Martin Garrix do. He also does not have  any information about available merch so we believed that creating common merch would not be profitable and in line  with the artist's profile.

The Home page includes the artist's latest song release, in this case this being ,,THIS GIRL". The background being a Photoshop edited photograph presents the four girls that were also modelling in the music video. The Bio page includes information about the artist that was gathered from his official website, the photo of the DJ being also taken from there but edited in a way that it would successfully blend and create a nice contrast with the text. This box is placed in the middle of the page, in order to have a stronger  impact, increase dynamicity and really stand out. The Music page, which represents the discography, changes background, portraying the same photo from the digi pack. This choice was made mostly for decorative reasons and presents the cover of his latest album. Near the album photo, there is a little icon where the latest song ,,This girl" can be listened to by clicking the play button.Still in the same section there is also the music video of the latest hit, which can be viewed by anyone interested. On the OnTour page, we wanted to add all the upcoming concerts that the artist had posted on his site, with dates, locations and directing to the site where the tickets can be bought. However, at that time, the artist had only one scheduled concert, in Sweden, as all the others were cancelled due to the Coronavirus context. Finally, the Contact page leads to a standardised form with anyone being able to write a message to the artist by introducing their email address.

Moving on to the Header, this was also created following the idea of minimalism in style and conventions. This included the artist's name, whose logo I had to download from the internet because of the specific font and unique characteristics that I could not otherwise find, this also being present on the digipak, and the main menu. This logo is placed only in the header, challenging a common convention, as most websites that we researched before have them positioned both in the header and the footer. In terms of the social media logos (in white) which redirect the reader to the artist's official account, these are also conventionally challenging, placed in the right side of the page, rather than the footer. These included Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, just what the artist has displayed on his own site, these being the platforms he is most active on.

The colour scheme of the website was chosen after we put all the necessary information, trying different background colours that would look aesthetically pleasing and would also be in line with the artist's style. This would create a sense of branding and promotion for the music video. When it came to the general display of the site, we settled on a simplistic approach, having all pages in one, when tapping to a certain category, this directing the reader to each part respectively. Our main aim was to create a satisfying branding image, personalised and not copying the original KUNGS website but still representing his concept, thus managing to create a successful music promotion package.
