I have thought a lot these past few days about not only how my magazine will look, but also the deeper meaning of it. Therefore, I have made a more complex plan which will help me reach the completion of BONBON Issue 3:
- FRONT COVER: for the front cover, I will have one of the photos of the lollipops in the Fiji water bottle. I really like the colours - even unedited! - and the composition of some of them is really interesting and compelling. I will give it a blue-pink hue, which I will bring forward onto the CONTENTS page as well.
- CONTENTS: the contents double spread will include a 'featured artist' on the leftmost page, and the full content list on the other. The featured artist page is not only made to empower the artist (Yidi Huang will be more of an underground artist), which will gain them a bigger following, but also to expand the tastes and art-related knowledge of the readers. I will include a big photo of the artist (maybe an album cover) in order to create visual appeal. The rightmost page will include the issue date (e.g. March 2019), and the 11 contents I have already written in a previous post. I will aim to make these fit the aesthetic of the cover.
- DOUBLE SPREAD: after the photoshoot with the candy and myself, I considered putting a photo of me with one of the lollipops in the middle of the double spread. I liked this photo mainly because of how overexposed it is, as well as the smeared lipstick & heart lollipop combination. I find that it transmits the message that I was aiming to send - how I feel about art. I will also add some writing: SEE SAW in two different ends of the double spread, 'ENDLESS SEESAW GAME' written in a barely visible way over the image, the page number, and a very short description explaining what the editorial is about.
- BACK COVER: on the back cover I will put either a photo from the photoshoot with Yidi, or one from the candy photoshoot, to go with the front cover. The barcode will also be on the back cover. I might place 'BONBON' centered on the back cover, but I will see more when I create and edit the magazine in InDesign.
