music video - creation process

The music video was mainly mine and Ana's responsibility. We split the work, I edited the last half and Ana the first. I also took care of mounting the video and placing tints, editing contrast and exposure and such.

Ie have used two different apps to edit the music video: iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Ie used iMovie mainly for selecting the footage that will be used and arranging it in order to be cut-to-the-beat. iMovie proved to be quite straight-forward and easy to use, compared to Final Cut which is more complex. The footage we had filmed was to be placed on the left side of the app, and then each part which is included in the music video was to be dragged in the lower section of the screen, where it can be rearranged, cut and edited. In iMovie, I have also edited the colours a little, although Final Cut Pro proved to have much more advanced settings, and so I would say that Final Cut had given our video a more professional look in terms of editing.

We chose to apply a different tint for each girl: green, yellow, pink, and blue in order for the viewer to clearly distinguish each scene and create a narrative which enhances the differences of each girl. This was done in Final Cut Pro. I mainly used this app because of the high-quality appearance it gave the video: I edited the saturation, vibrance, exposure, contrast and tints in order to make each section of the video stand out more to the viewer. Moreover, Final Cut Pro has great transitions (for example, the transition between Ana's part of the music video and Andra's), which allows for a smoother music video with more flow. I used Final Cut Pro to add the names of each girl in the introduction part of the music video in order to strengthen the connection between the viewers and the characters represented and engage them in the narrative we chose to portray.

On top of the footage filmed in the four different scenes mentioned in the planning posts (sports base, restaurant, cafe, pool), we have also decided that we would want to include lip-sync in the music video, but due to the COVID-19 quarantine, the only option we had was to each film herself at home. I consider the lip-sync to enhance our video in terms of a more personal connection with the audience, including them in the story.

I often have to edit music videos that I shoot on my iPhone. Not so long ago I was looking for information on the Internet how to automate video editing, I thought I could do it with AI, but it turned out to be much simpler, You can explore https://www.movavi.com/support/how-to/automatic-video-editor.html to understand more about automatic video editing, maybe you can use it in your work.

I tried it, a bit unaccustomed and have to fix some things, but overall ok!
